Why do clothes from the past look way better in the future?

I J'ADORE The proenza schouler spring 2007 RTW collection but I wish it could be more Henry Holland!!
The last dress is like my dream prom dress, not a typically prom dress, but hey!
Why not stand out from the crowd?If anything has prints, patterns and Funky colours on it could definitely hypnotize me like a Toy does to a Toddler, Me and my dodgy metaphors :)
